Snowmass Village

This gorgeous town set among the slopes is a skier’s dream.

Welcome to Snowmass Village

A charming village set among a high-intensity natural playground

Sitting only 10 minutes from Downtown Aspen, this gorgeous town set among the slopes is a skier’s dream. The village has a resort-like feel with incredible scenery and almost-too- good-to-be-true slopes. The surrounding mountains create the perfect backdrop view while providing adventure seekers with year-round activities.

Opening in 1967, the village was inspired by former Olympic ski racer Bill Janss’s time skiing in Europe. The plan for Snowmass was to recreate the ski towns in the Alps and nestle lodging and adventure into one. In the last 50+ years, Snowmass has become an all-season family resort and down-to-earth community.

The land available for homes in Snowmass is scarce due to its proximity to national forest land. Homes available tend to be a mix of modern luxury homes and affordable to high-end condominiums.

What To Love

  • Crown jewel of the ski-centered community
  • Over 40 miles of intense mountain trails
  • Lynn Britt Cabin—a glimpse into Old Western-style dining

People & Lifestyle

Snowmass is full of adventurous charm. Locals tend to be active and down-to-earth, spending most of their time outdoors—it’s hard to stay indoors with these views! The local landscape creates an intimate and family-friendly community feel and heavily influences the day-to-day life of its residence—you won’t find someone who doesn’t love the mountains living in Snowmass. The median resident age is 37, and most home and condo owners are families.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Snowmass Base Village is the main hub of the village. Full of shopping, dining, and entertainment, this area is the place to be—during breaks from the slopes, of course.

Snowmass Mall is a one-stop-shop for outdoor gear and supplies, locals produce and boutiques, and hand-crafted art and souvenirs. If you’re looking for more high-end shopping, Downtown Aspen is a short drive away with many name-brand retailers.

We’ve all got to eat, and Snowmass has that covered! Enjoy handmade Italian from Il Poggio or Mexican cuisine from Venga Venga and Kenichi for sushi and Pan-Asian cuisine. Don’t miss out on Lynn Britt Cabin’s “authentic Western ambiance” with a mix of elegance if you’re looking for a charming and intimate experience.

Things To Do

While snow and skiing are the dominant Snowmass ideals, the community is full of year-round activities. Located near over 40 miles of trails for biking and hiking, there’s never a shortage of outdoor adventure.

Snowmass has many annual events, including the Snowmass Rodeo—the longest-running rodeo in Colorado. There’s also the free summer concert series that takes place every Thursday night that includes activities for kids and beer and wine for parents. Aspen’s Jazz Festival also comes around every Labor Day weekend.

Snowmass Mountain is one of the “Power of Four” ski areas, creating a natural playground for residents. Check out the Nordic Ski Trails if the slopes aren’t your style. If you’re looking for warmer weather activities, Sky Mountain Park offers great opportunities for biking and hiking through incredibly scenic landscapes. Snowmass Lanes & Lounge is a great way to switch things up a bit!

Schools

Snowmass Village is close to a number of excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:

  • Aspen School District, K-12, top-rated public school system, student-teacher ratio of 12:1
  • Wildwood School, preschool, deep focus on artistic development and exploration of the environment
